Sam Mendes takes home the feature film gong at the Directors Guild of America Awards as Leonardo DiCaprio reunites with Quentin Tarantino at the star-studded ceremony
Sam Mendes took home the award for feature film for his work on the critically lauded 1917 at this year’s Director’s Guild of America Awards.
The star-studded ceremony was held in The Ritz Carlton Hotel in Los Angeles on Saturday with Leonardio DiCaprio taking to the stage in honour of Quentin Tarantino.
The director was nominated in the same category as Sam for his work on Once Upon A Time in Hollywood with Leo making a speech about his friend.

Sam looked thrilled after accepting his award for 1917, which has received 10 nominations at this year’s Academy Awards.

Meanwhile, director Alma Har’el took home the award for First-Time Feature Film for her work on Honey Boy.
Johan Renck beat out the competition to take home the award for television film or mini-series for directing the hugely successful Chernobyl.
