Kyrgyzstan’s Shambala film nominated for Oscar award

AKIPRESS.COM – Oscar Committee of Kyrgyzstan decided to nominate Artykpai Suyundukov’s Shambala film for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film of the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
The Shambala is based on Chingiz Aitmatov’s novella The White Ship. The film is a co-production of the Kyrgyzfilm and the Aitysh Film studio.
The film was premiered at the International Film Festival in Shanghai in 2020.
On April 25, Shambala received the Nika award as the best film at the CIS Film Festival.
The national committees nominate candidates for the Oscar long list. The special jurt of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will then shortlist candidates.
The 94th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 27, 2022.
