Over the past year plenty of Australians have spent more time at home than ever before. But more time in the house has meant more heating, more air conditioning, more cooking and certainly more Netflix.
For many households, that’s also meant larger electricity bills. So with energy usage front of mind, that begs the question: are you happy with your current electricity provider?
Maybe you are. Maybe you’re ambivalent. Perhaps you’re feeling you’re due to make a switch. If the latter’s true, you’ll be interested to know what fellow Aussies think of their own electricity providers – especially those which are rated most highly.
Well have we got news for you, because the 2021 Mozo People’s Choice Awards have just been released, including Australia’s most recommended electricity providers!
This wasn’t just an office straw poll, though. In a March survey conducted on behalf of Mozo by market research firm Ipsos, 2,727 Australians were asked to share opinions about their electricity providers, with ratings given across 46 different providers.
So without further ado, here are Australia’s favourite electricity providers.
Red Energy
Melbourne-based energy provider Red Energy has been one of the most frequent Mozo People’s Choice Award recipients over the years, having been named on the winners list every year since 2016. And they’ve done it again in 2021… with aplomb!
Red Energy took out a People’s Choice Awards in each of the five categories on offer, including: Outstanding Customer Satisfaction, Excellent Customer Service, Clearest Billing, Highly Trusted and Most Recommended.
Lumo Energy
Right up there with Red Energy in the estimations of Australian electricity customers is Lumo Energy, who offer electricity and gas plans to households in Victoria and South Australia.
Lumo Energy took out an impressive four 2021 Mozo People’s Choice Awards in the following categories: Outstanding Customer Satisfaction, Excellent Customer Service, Clearest Billing and Highly Trusted.
EnergyAustralia
As one of Australia’s largest energy providers with millions of users, EnergyAustralia is a real household name. But it hasn’t lost sight of its customers according to the results of the 2021 Mozo People’s Choice Awards.
In fact, EnergyAustralia was one of just three winners in the Outstanding Customer Satisfaction award category. That adds to the 2020 Mozo Experts Choice Energy Awards it picked up for solar-friendly electricity in Queensland and small business gas plans in the ACT.
Simply Energy
Let’s face it, reading an energy bill is often about as easy as deciphering the Rosetta Stone, but some electricity providers appear to be doing a much better job at making things simpler for their customers.
One of those is Simply Energy, which was rated by Australians as a 2021 Mozo People’s Choice Award winner for Clearest Billing. That’s not the only recent award Simply Energy has picked up either, as it also took home a 2020 Mozo Experts Choice Small Business Energy Award for best small business gas plan in New South Wales.
